Learn about program
changes made to all version 3.8 eMedic
programs (i.e., Palm, Pocket PC, and
Windows).
Learn about
changes made to the medical database in all
version 3.8 eMedic programs.
The following changes were made only to
eMedic Editor (version 3.8):
General Changes
-
eMedic Editor does a better
job of preventing errors during data entry. For example, if too much
text is entered into one field.
-
An improved Test command now
traps for more data errors.
Algorithm Editor
Printing
- The new version of eMedic Editor prints
paper field guides. This feature is still under construction and may
not be completed. You can specify many printing options (e.g., which records are
output, paper size, binding, title page options, etc). The printed guide
includes a table of contents and index.
|
|
Fixed a minor typographical error. (See below for details
on version 3.7.)

Learn about
changes made to the medical database in all
version 3.7 eMedic programs.
The following changes were made only to the
eMedic Editor (version 3.7):
- The version number
jumped from 2.0 to 3.7 so all eMedic products have
synchronized version numbers.
- Two new buttons on the Medicine page allow you to specify default values for the Dosage and Drip Calculators. If the user of the handheld software chooses
the Dosage or Drip calculator from the medicine's See Also
record, the calculator will be pre-populated with the appropriate values (e.g., dosage and concentration) for that
medicine.
- The Backup command will now optionally test the database for errors before backing up your
data.
- The Find command now begins the search from the currently displayed record, rather than
from the first acronym. This makes it easier to repeatedly search for text.
- You can now cancel when merging a new database. The next time eMedic
Editor is started you will again get to choose how you want to handle
the new database.
- If you change a record's title and then accept the option to rename existing
See Also records, references to that record in Algorithms are now also modified. Several other minor changes
were made to improve the renaming process.

The new features in eMedic Editor version 2.0 include:
- A revised medical database includes of
hundreds of changes.
- Many new fields were added to the Medicine records
(i.e., Effects, Contraindications,
Precautions, Side Effects, Route, and Dosage). The new fields were used extensively when updating the medical database as
explained here.
- You can now export the database to eMedic for Windows.
- A new Find-and-Replace dialog was added. This makes it easier to make
global database changes.
- If you attempt to add a See Also
link that already exists, a warning message is now displayed.
- You can now enter "hidden" comments in any field. The comments are
displayed in the Editor, but are not displayed in the other versions of eMedic. To enter comments, enclose the text between "/*" and "*/" (e.g., "/* This is a comment */"). Comments make it easier for you to document where the medical
information was obtained and when it was changed.
- The Test command was improved to locate duplicate records and to catch
numerous subtle problems.
- Numerous other minor changes were made.
