Edit Protocols on Your PC |
| The eMedic Editor
is a great way to maintain your agency's, or
your personal, protocols.
For example, when your medical director changes
a dosage or modifies a treatment, everyone in your agency can be updated to the new protocol. And with the small size of handheld computers, there is no longer an excuse to ignore the protocols.
| |
Handheld computers are a fantastic way to carry medical
information, but their small size and lack of a keyboard make them impractical to enter a large
amount of information. The eMedic Editor makes it much easier to enter information.
You have unparalleled control over the information
in eMedic.

| |
The desktop environment makes it easier to manage
"See Also" links between various records.

eMedic Editor includes the
newest database containing
more than 1,500 records. And the database includes an additional 500 acronyms and medicine records that you
can use.
eMedic Editor makes it easy to
quickly specify which records you want, or don't want, on your handheld.
The Test command lets you test
the integrity of your database, from finding invalid "See Also" links to locating
blank or invalid records.
The Backup and Restore commands
help protect your data. You can also use these commands to maintain different
versions of your protocols (e.g., BLS and ALS versions).
The Automatic Update command periodically
checks for, and downloads, the most recent version.
An extensive online Help system makes
it easy for you to get assistance.
| |
The Export command creates files that you
can easily distribute (e.g., via email) to the medical personnel in your agency who use
PalmEMS, MobileEMS, eMedic for Palm,
eMedic for Pocket PC or eMedic for Windows.
If several people HotSync their Palm computers
on one PC, eMedic Editor can specify the users that will automatically receive the
updated protocols the next time they HotSync (e.g., at the beginning of his or her shift).

| |
The eMedic Editor
allows you to add, edit, and delete
algorithms (a.k.a. flowcharts) as shown
below.
Algorithms can contain pages, boxes, buttons,
icons, lines, and text that link to other records. The links can display any other information
in eMedic (e.g., acronyms,
anatomical images,
algorithms,
medical calculators,
medicines, and
treatments) including information that you added.
Your algorithms can do more than just ACLS--they
can define any structured process. For example, you can create an algorithm that determines
the appropriate hospital to take your patient (e.g., a trauma center, burn center, or pediatric
hospital) based on your protocols.

The
eMedic Editor includes the
latest
algorithms based on Guidelines
2005, plus these guidelines from 2000:

| The eMedic Editor maintains its own database on your PC that can be distributed
to users of PalmEMS, MobileEMS, eMedic for Palm,
eMedic for Pocket PC, and eMedic for Windows. The eMedic Editor does not perform two-way
synchronization with your handheld (i.e., it does not read
information from your handheld computer). |
